On Neighborhoods
While we’ve invested heavily in the neighborhoods such as the Downtown, many other neighborhoods throughout the City of Lowell have been left to decline. We have allowed other neighborhoods to fall into disrepair with poor infrastructure maintenance, lax inspections and empty store fronts.
I support investing in the Neighborhood Business Districts, within our neighborhoods, where residents and business owners would be able to conduct their daily business in attractive, safe areas (find out more about this concept). The purpose is to keep the investment in our communities. In the coming months, I’ll be expanding on these and many other ideas, to include:
- Reinvestment in the form of public safety initiatives, clean neighborhoods, better roads, sidewalks and parks.
- Investing more in our partnerships with community organizations such as Keep Lowell Beautiful, Community Gardens Greenhouse, Lowell Clean water Canals and most importantly, our neighborhood organizations.
Recently, I ran across this group, of which I had not heard, called “Mill City Moms and Friends”. Great group of families who get together about once a week and they plan outtings as a group. The participants come from all over the City of Lowell and I thought this was a great way to bridge our neighborhoods and bring families together who might never have met.
